Line type

NTT FLET’S Hikari Next Type connects to the last mile line using NTT’s NGN network. These lines vary depending on the base you use.NTT East Japan AreaFLET’S Hikari Next Family Giga Line (IPv6 contract required)NTT West Japan areaFLET’S Hikari Next Family Super High Speed Type Hayabusa (IPv6 contract required)

This line will be prepared by the customer, but we generally recommend that it be dedicated to Private Connect .

In addition, since the line is loaned by NTT, the demarcation point of responsibility is as follows, and we cannot guarantee stability, speed, etc.

As shown in the diagram, at the user site, the cloud gateway loaned by us and the cloud-side accommodation equipment are the demarcation points of our responsibility, while the line is the demarcation point of responsibility of NTT East and NTT West.

Connect to our region

The regions that can be directly delivered are as follows:

Our RegionNTT East and West Regions
KantoWithin the NTT East Japan area
CentralWithin the NTT West Japan area
KansaiWithin the NTT West Japan area
KyushuWithin the NTT West Japan area

*For example, in the case of Kagoshima, you can connect to the Chubu region using Private Connect (NTT FLET’S Hikari Next Type, NI-CSHC).

FAQ

It is recommended to use the FLET’S line exclusively, but what happens if you use it for multiple purposes?

When using the service in conjunction with the “Hikari Denwa” service, the telephone service takes priority, which can significantly limit the transfer speed of the Private Connect network, making it difficult to maintain a sufficient speed. For example, there have been cases where speeds of around 100Mbps improved to around 400Mbps by canceling the Hikari Denwa service and using the service exclusively.

Also, if you use it in conjunction with an Internet line, you cannot use it in conjunction with a provider connection that uses IPoE. This is possible if you use PPPoE. This is because using IPoE makes it impossible to access the closed network of NGN.

Please note that transfer speeds vary greatly depending on your area and the congestion of the NGN network, so you may not achieve the speeds shown in the examples.

What if I want to connect using L3 instead of L2?

We recommend installing a software router on the High Response Private Cloud (HRPC). Available software routers include OPNsense and FortiGate (UTM).

What kind of line speed and stability can I expect?

As this service uses the NGN network of NTT East and NTT West’s FLET’S Hikari as its line, there are few aspects that we can guarantee and speeds will vary depending on the availability of the NGN network.

On average, the actual measured line speed is often around 300Mbps, but you won’t really know until you actually connect.

In addition, the RTT, which affects stability, varies depending on the distance from the customer’s base to our region. As an example, if the user’s base is in Tokyo, it takes about 2 to 3 msec to connect to our East Japan region.

How can I transmit tagged VLAN (802.1q)?

If you use tagged VLAN, you will need a management table.

At this time, we do not provide a dashboard or similar, so please submit a list containing the following information via our sales department.

example:

Customer site VLAN numberVLAN nameDestination VLAN number
UntagLAN04857(※1)
2WAN04858(※1)

*To avoid duplication, we have intentionally included an impossible number. This number will be assigned by us when you use it.
*The VLAN name will be used for High Response Private Cloud, VMware Private Cloud, and other storage products.
*The receiving VLAN number will be used for Solaris SPARC Private Cloud, etc.

Is it possible to use STP etc.?

BPDU packets that carry STP cannot be used because they are removed by our equipment.

Is it possible to install two lines at one location for redundancy? Also, do you perform loop detection, etc.?

In the case of Private Connect FLET’S Hikari Next Type, it is not possible to connect two cables to one base. Also, redundancy using LACP, etc. is not possible.

If redundancy is required, please use the DC internal connection type and contact our sales department.

In addition, our switches periodically send out loop detection packets to detect loops at the user site. If a loop is detected at the user site, the port is automatically shut down temporarily to ensure the safety of the device.

After the loop has been resolved, please contact our customer service center or our sales representative.

To what extent is the MAC Address available?

As a guideline, the number of MAC addresses that can be transmitted using Private Connect FLET’S Hikari Next Type should be less than 100 per location.
