Seamless Migration from VMware
with LOGIQ’s Unique Platform

An open and robust virtualization platform, ideal for migration from VMware.

Server Configuration

HCI (Hyper Converged Infrastructure) Type (KVM)

HCI is an optimized solution for migration from on-premises environments such as VMware and Nutanix, providing an efficient design using InterConnected Storage. Below are the main features of HCI:

  1. High Availability (HA) Features
HCI offers excellent high availability features. If a compute node fails, the HA feature quickly restarts the virtual machine on other nodes, greatly improving the reliability and availability of the system, thus supporting business continuity.
  2. Integrated Storage Functionality
By integrating storage into the HCI, there is no need to consider fault tolerance for individual storage components. This approach reduces design and management burdens and enables simpler and more efficient infrastructure operations.

  3. Optimal Balance of Cost Efficiency and Performance
HCI uses software-defined storage (SDS), achieving high cost efficiency. However, the effective capacity is about 1/3 of the physical capacity, so careful capacity planning is required. Additionally, while fault tolerance is high, write speed may slightly decrease.

  4. Excellent Scalability
HCI adopts a design where CPU, memory, and storage can be expanded as an integrated system, allowing flexible infrastructure expansion to meet system growth. This enables rapid responses to business needs.

HCI offers a simple design, high availability, integrated storage functionality, and flexible scalability. Additionally, data is stored in a distributed manner based on quorum, ensuring high reliability. However, to ensure complete data protection, additional backup for virtual machines or instances is recommended.

3-Tier Type 2xES (Xen/KVM)

The 3-Tier type is an ideal solution for enterprises seeking high stability and performance, provided in combination with Enterprise Storage 6Gt. Below are its main features:

  1. Excellent Migration Performance
Optimized for migrating from on-premises environments like VMware and Nutanix, ensuring a stable storage topology.
  2. High Availability (HA) Features
Even if a compute node fails, the HA feature automatically restarts virtual machines on other nodes, enhancing system availability and reliability.
  3. High-Performance Storage Access
Ultra-fast and stable storage access is achieved through dedicated storage using NVMe buses. Enterprise Storage (Double Parity) is adopted in a fully redundant (Mirror) configuration to further strengthen data robustness.
  4. Excellent Fault Tolerance and Data Protection
By setting primary and secondary configurations for virtual disks, issues during failover are avoided, ensuring high fault tolerance and data integrity while maintaining IO performance.
  5. Flexible Application Features
For cases where mirroring at the virtual disk level is unnecessary, replication at the storage layer can be chosen. Backup can be combined to enhance data protection and disaster recovery.
  6. Choice of Virtualization Platforms
Supports various virtualization platforms like Xen and KVM, facilitating flexible infrastructure operations.
  7. Cost and Reliability Balance
Designed for enterprises seeking high reliability and performance, this configuration meets the needs of customers willing to invest in robustness.

The 3-Tier type is an ideal choice for companies requiring high stability and performance, especially in mission-critical operations and large-scale data processing environments. Backup acquisition is recommended when implementing primary and secondary configurations.

IaR Type: Independent and Replication

The IaR (Independent and Replication) type is a solution designed to balance high performance and high availability for internet services. Below are the detailed features:

  1. Adaptation to a Wide Range of Applications
IaR is optimized for environments such as information sites, portal sites, and gaming services, where traffic can fluctuate significantly. It is built to efficiently handle load spikes, which could increase access by dozens to thousands of times.
  2. Independence-Based Structure for Stability
Unlike 3-Tier and HCI types, IaR adopts an independent structure without shared storage. This design avoids issues typically faced by traditional architectures, such as decreased speed and risk of failure, by concentrating all I/O requests on the storage layer. Each compute node operates independently, minimizing the impact of specific node or virtual machine load on other nodes.
  3. Fast Data Recovery and Protection
IaR uses the following features to ensure data protection and rapid recovery:
    • Regular Data Replication: Periodic replication to backup storage ensures fast recovery in case of failure.
    • RPO (Recovery Point Objective): In the event of data loss, data is promptly backed up to another storage location, protecting against both physical and logical failures.
  4. Balance of High Performance and Fault Tolerance
    • RAID-Based Data Protection: ICS (InterConnected Storage) uses RAID (NAND-based) to ensure data redundancy and high reliability.
    • High Durability Design: Improved durability of NAND cells ensures long-term stable operation.
    • Flexible Resource Management: HRPC (High-Resource Performance Control) minimizes risks and downtime during machine failure.
  5. Super-Fast Storage Performance
ICS infrastructure provides high-speed I/O performance, while RAIN (RAID on NAND) technology enhances the durability and reliability of the storage layer.

IaR offers a solution with high performance, high availability, and enhanced backup, specifically optimized for mission-critical operations and high-load systems, providing strong support for business continuity.

Backup Storage and Enterprise Storage Replication (Xen)

In the Xen environment, a system is provided to enable data replication between Backup Storage (BS) and Enterprise Storage (ES) in the backend. This ensures rapid recovery and high availability in the event of a failure.

  1. High Availability and Recovery Performance
    • 3-Tier Storage Configuration:
The 3-Tier storage structure allows rapid data recovery using ES or BS during failures, similar to the single storage structure in a 3-Tier setup. When ES is used, the time to return to ICS (InterConnected Storage) is reduced, significantly improving response time.
    • Enhanced Backup Functionality:
Even when BS is used, data recovery to ICS can be executed quickly. This ensures data protection and operational continuity.
  2. Minimizing Latency
    • LOGIQ Private Cloud + BS/ES Configuration:
In this setup, data is written back to ICS sequentially while the system operates directly from BS or ES. This ensures that the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) approaches zero, minimizing downtime for operations. This solution minimizes the risk of data loss while enabling rapid system recovery, making it ideal for environments requiring high availability and stability. The combination of BS and ES provides flexible and robust data protection.

Replication to Different Hosts or Regions (Xen/KVM)

This solution allows replicas to be launched directly from the replication destination, achieving near-zero Recovery Time Objective (RTO), ensuring rapid disaster recovery and business continuity.

  1. KVM Model
    • Replication Within the Same VDC (Virtual Data Center):
Replication to another host within the same VDC is possible, enabling quick startup of replicas from another host during failure. However, replication across different VDCs is not supported.
    • Incompatible with HCI Types:
The KVM model cannot be combined with HCI configurations, so its use is limited to specific scenarios.
  2. Xen Model
    • Flexible Replication Options:
Replication is possible within the same pool (VDC) or across different pools. This enables quick startup from another host or from another pool in case of a failure.
    • Integration with BS and ES:
The solution integrates with BS (Backup Storage) and ES (Enterprise Storage), enhancing data protection and recovery performance.
    • Replication Across Different Regions:
Replication to a different region is supported. Combining this with the Interconnected Replication Framework (IRF) allows launching from another LOGIQ Private Cloud environment at a different site, enabling rapid disaster recovery in case of a regional disaster.

This replication solution emphasizes rapid recovery performance and provides the flexibility to meet diverse data protection needs, especially in environments where quick business recovery during a failure is critical.
