However, we can also arrange for a third-party transmission line to be provided. User Arrangement: We will arrange for a line to be connected to a designated location in each of the Kanto, Kansai, Chubu, and Kyushu regions. Arranged by Our Company: We will refer you to a third party that can arrange the lines and connect them to the user’s location.

The points of responsibility demarcation are as follows:

As shown in the diagram, the point between the user’s location and our location is the responsibility demarcation point of the line provider.

Third-Party Transmission Lines

The cost of third-party transmission lines we can arrange varies depending on the distance from our cloud PoP to your other data center, office, or factory.

In addition, detailed investigations into redundancy methods may be necessary depending on the situation, so separate discussions are required. Please contact our customer service or sales representative.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in terms of line speed and stability?

When communicating within the same data center (DC), the connection is equivalent to a rack-to-rack connection, so stable, low-latency lines can be achieved.

If you use a third-party line, the line quality will vary depending on the service, but if you use a dedicated line, you can achieve maximum speed. For example, in the Tokyo metropolitan area, you can connect with near-zero latency.

However, depending on the application you are using and the distance, latency may increase, and you might not achieve the expected speed.

Can the lines be made redundant? Can a third-party line be a single line?

The DC internal wiring type is provided in units of two ports, so it is assumed to be used for redundancy. Typically, link aggregation using LACP is employed, but various other methods can be used depending on the situation.

When arranging a third-party line, there are managed lines (lines with redundancy at the midpoint) and single lines. Even if the midpoint is redundant with a managed line, downtime may occur due to maintenance of our equipment or the network equipment at the user’s site. To prevent this, it is better to connect two single lines with fully redundant routes.

Which connection regions can I choose?

There are various methods for third-party network lines, so it’s difficult to generalize, but here are some examples. For more information, please contact us or speak with our sales representative.

How is tagged VLAN (802.1q) transmitted?

If you use tagged VLANs, you will need a management table.

Currently, we do not provide a control panel or similar interface, so please submit a list containing the following information via our sales department.

Example:

VLAN Number at Customer SiteVLAN NameDestination VLAN Number
UntaggedLAN04857(※1)
2WAN04858(※1)

*To avoid duplication, we have intentionally included an unfeasible number. This number will be assigned by us when you use it.
*The VLAN name will be used for High Response Private Cloud, VMware Private Cloud, and other hosting products.
*The receiving VLAN number will be used for Solaris SPARC Private Cloud, etc.

Can STP, etc., be used?

BPDU packets carrying STP cannot be used as they are discarded by our equipment.

Do you perform loop detection, etc.?

To detect loops at the user’s site, our switch periodically sends loop detection packets. If a loop is detected at the user’s site, the port will automatically shut down temporarily to ensure the safety of internal equipment.

After the loop has been resolved, please contact our customer service center or sales representative.

What if I want to connect via L3 instead of L2?

We recommend installing a software router on the High Response Private Cloud (HRPC). Available software routers include OPNsense and FortiGate (UTM).
